The organisation, work and competencies of the State Attorney’s Office are regulated by the State Attorney Act (OJ RS, no. 20/97). The State Attorney represents the Republic of Slovenia and other subjects determined by law in the State Attorney Act before domestic, foreign and international courts. It also provides legal counselling for the subjects it represents.

The State Attorney’s Office also performs other tasks, determined by individual laws, as follows:
